WTB 1448 hull

Dear Waterfowlers,

I would like to buy an aluminum 14x48 jon boat hull.

Anybody got one for sale?

My hunting buddy and my dog are too fat for the 14x36 that I currently have.

Thanks.

Big 10-4, Waterfowl! Every time I go by the Big O, I see all manner of jon boats, along with bass rigs, for sale. Satchel's Dad, I started in a 1436 and still wonder how I did not sink it countless times but it was a dream to hide and push and with that 18 HP LT I could go just about anywhere. A 1448 will definitely be safer for your load but you might as well go 1648 and be real comfortable.

Re: WTB 1448 hull

Thanks y'all. I have Monday off so I'll slide by O Town and check out the rigs for sale.

Raul G., I have a 16 LT so was thinking the 16 footer would be a bit heavier than I care for, but I'll do some research. Those extra 2 feets may be just the ticket.

Thanks!

Re: WTB 1448 hull

Satchel's Dad, the 16 HP will be slow on a 16' hull but still perform. I suggest a riveted 16', I have a couple of friends with 1648 Lowe riveted hulls going on 20+ years with 25 HP LT's and no problem- I suggest some Gatorglide/Steelflex on the bottom. I really don't see the need for heavy azz .125 welded hulls (though I have a .100 welded 1648, wish it was lighter). If you get the 16' you'll be ready when and if you move up to a bigger block LT.

Re: WTB 1448 hull

Hey Raul G.,

Glad you posted man. I did some research and it looks like those extra two feets, from 14 to 16 ft, only cost about 15 lbs in weight. That's a no brainer for me. Thanks a bunch for the suggestion. It will be a more comfy season from here on out, and easier than getting a skinnier hunting buddy.

Re: WTB 1448 hull

You will benefit from better planing ( of course a true flat bottom mud hull is best), and carrying capacity. I really wish I had an 18' light hull for my LT.

I have a boat blind that would fit right on this boat.
