First I must thank FWC and DEP for being so responsive to our requests to have input on the aquatic vegetation issues. We've gotten an expanded scope on the tussock control program.

Are you ready for this? Are you sitting down?

Since there are no large scale hydrilla control projects planned for this year, DEP has excess funding that they intend to use. They have asked UW-F to assist them in selecting sites where pot holes could be created in stands of existing emergent vegetation. :icon_salu That's right, can you think of a lake you hunt where you'd love to get in there and carve out a nice honey hole in the cattails? :icon_chee Well here is your chance to have DEP do it for you! :blob10:

Just like last time, WE NEED MAPS or AERIAL PHOTOS marked up with candidate sites.

Newton and I don't hunt on all the lakes in the state. WE NEED MEMBERS INPUT! I will be providing detailed plans for the areas I hunt, don't miss this opportunity to do the same.

Your VOICE is being heard!

I am pleased to see this post - it marks genuine progress between 'us' and 'them.' Unfortunately, my local favorite lost nearly all emergent vegetation during the storms and I'd be hard-pressed to even find an area worthy of any attention. More than anything, I am just relieved to know that there will be no active hydrilla efforts this year. I hope the stuff grows so we can hold some ducks this year.

Anyway - thanks Dave. Your work is appreciated.

I got my maps for Kissimmee in the mail today - keep your eyes out for them and thanks for the hard work.

Think CATTAIL REMOVAL from selected areas......In jest I mentioned "LIKE A DONUT".....clear a cirlcle in the middle of a cattail desert about 150 yards across, leave a little circle of cattail in the middle.....Now look at the St. Johns bottoms......look at parts of the glades void of ducks for years because of no open areas......this is not a dream!

Where do we mail the information? Will the FWC/DEP provide a list of areas that received the work?
