UW-F got a nice mention in D/U's wingbeats magazine regarding the TM Goodwin youth hunt. They also mentioned Dukes teaching at the summer youth camps and are looking for volunteers... It would be great if we could do this again.... If it was closer I'd do it but at 3 hours one way it is a bit of a hike...

If there is someone up north who could speak with Duke and see what the presentation involved and perhaps do them as a representative of UW-F, that would be good PR. Duke carried a lot of mail for UW-F and there should be others able and willing to help now and in the future.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Outdoor Adventure Camp in Ocala National Forest will begin its 2005 summer camp season in June. You can get all details and a brouchure at MyFWC.com or by calling the Ocala Conservation Center at 352-625-2804....Duke's presentations were at the Ocala Conservation Center I believe.

:)
The camp was held during the Summer months in the Ocala Natl Forest.
Joe R., Steve W.and Winston M. helped out as well.
Greg Workman was the past director of the Summer Youth Camps, but I believe he has moved on.
The program consisted of waterfowling history, I.D., techniques, gear, safety and legal.
I think that it would be great also if UW picked this back up.

If it's on a weekend I would be willing to work with someone on this. I know the camp well as my archery club (Traditional Bowhunters of Florida) uses the facilities twice a year for our shoots. Don't feel qualified to spearhead the agenda, but am interested.

I will be glad to work with you on this if it is on a weekend. I dont know if I am qualified either, but with some coaching from Duke and some others we should be alright. We owe it to the next generation to pass on a fine tradition (way of life) like duck hunting.

Thanks Rey. I've worked with kids teaching fishing, archery, game calling and even radio telemetry tracking wild turkeys. But duck hunting will be a new experience.

Thanks fellas, this is a great PR opportunity. UW has sponsored a child to attend the summer camp in the past. It might be a good thing to do it again.
I'll try to draft a format for the class.
It would encompass a few (3) hrs.
The class was held on Wed. in the afternoon.

Thanks for the info Duke. I might be able to make Wednesday afternoons work if I can give my employer advanced notice. If you would be able to put together an outline for us to follow it would be a blessing. Thanks for giving us some insite and hopefully some instructions on how to make this a big success.
