David and I attended the Everglades Coordinating Council meeting last night and UW-F was voted in as a member. This will align UW-F with a strong coalition of hunting and outdoor sports groups with important ties to the local, state and federal agencies and politicians. The group works though out the central and southern regions of the state, but, by nature of the location of the Everglades, many of the battles are for Miami/Dade, Collier and southern counties.
Those who hunt, fish, airboat, atv or buggy ride are in danger of losing access to large areas, especially near the park, and there is a constant need for lobbying the agencies and politicians.
The guys in the Eighth Street Hunting Club should know that this group is crutial to their continued access to the southern glades!!! UW-F hopes to find other such groups across the state to amplify our VOICE!
