Thanks to all who attended, we made quite an impression with at least seven representatives present, even the "fishing guy" complained about the "duck hunters getting all the attention".
Jerry Krenz, SFWMD Senior Planner, CERP, gave the presentations on STA Hunting, STA Recreation Plans, and CERP Recreation Plans. Jerry has done a terrific job of having recreational interests included in the future work to complete the Everglades Restoration projects. The issues UW-F brought forward as crutial to duck hunting access and success were all addressed in a very positive way. For example, the STA 1W access around the perimeter issue seems to be on the way to drastic improvement for next year.
STA hunting will always have to "work" around the construction projects and the cycle of wet, dry, muck out. However, we do have a VOICE and friendly access to those who make the decisions so hunting will be considered.
If anyone wants specific information on topics addressed, give me a call or email. Newton
