The article is (in a meaningful strategy) very late in the season so as to keep the newbie traffic at LOX at a minimum for the season this year......we all want to keep our "spots" for ourselves, but we are in a battle to have much more publicly owned real estate open for hunting, so much in fact that crowding will be impossible!!!!

The positive press for waterfowling and the support of UW-F that it gains will over ride any temporary increase in the 5 AM line up at LOX the next two weeks.

Please note the lack of detail of where I hunt!!!!! Like any large marsh...LOX requires a lot of scouting and work to be successful, the lazy boys will not succeed. Those who are willing to pay their dues are welcome.

I think the story pretty clearly shows that 1 duck was harvested and there were a couple other chances that morning. That's a little different than 5.5 birds per hunter for 107 hunters on STA 5. Most area duckers are well aware of Lox and I doubt you'll see a big jump in goobers.

It is a very positive article and only serves to farther the goals of additional hunting opportunities for Florida waterfowlers.

Thanks Muckdog....I really didn't take your response in a negative way....just heading off some expected comments at the pass....There is usually a very short term blip after and article, but things soon settle back to normal. Willie Howard is good supporter for hunters at a paper not known for the traditional or conservative views....we are lucky to have him give one of us a call from time to time looking for an article. When he called me saying he planned to do an article on LOX I was more than glad to help out....and he agreed to a plug for UW-F....GREAT!!!!
