I moved to FL this summer from VA and have been overseas most of the season. I'm trying to find a place to take my 13 yr old son for dux on 16-17 Jan before the season closes out. I live in Tampa and it'd be great to get a recommendation on where to go. I've tried a couple of guides on Okeechobee but they're booked for the season, and I don't have a boat so my access is limited. If anyone has any ideas I'd greatly appreciate the help. Thanks! Email is thopkins5@tampabay.rr.com

If you have a canoe available to use, I would recommend going to STA5 (on Saturday morning) and/or STA1W on Sunday morning. You can go to the site and sign in as a "walk-in" (no permit required) with the FWS biologist Bill Lemke. You would need to be on site around 5:00AM. If you talk with the other hunters who are waiting they can give you some tips on how best to hunt the area. Here's the link to information about these areas STA Area Info (http://wld.fwc.state.fl.us/duck/Check_Stations/STAs/STA%20Waterfowl%20Areas.htm)
