One of my hunting buddies always tells me that his Dad never cleaned a duck in his life and that he always brought them home for his son to clean (which he did without question every time).

How does it work at your house? Does (1) your son or daughter always jump in (or get assigned) to clean them, (2) your loving wife (realizing that you've had a "tough day" out hunting) take over the cleaning duties or (3) no one in my house wants anything to do with cleaning ducks and I always have to do it. :pottytrai

Today, as always, when I get back from the marsh I clean the ducks out back. My son, Eddie (he's three years old) loves to pick them up to examine them and then retreats inside to play. My wife won't touch 'em until cooked.
Another good day at Broodmoor - 6 blue wings!

In my house, "you shoot it, you clean it". Sometimes I'm lucky, I get to clean them. :icon_twis

Hmmm, let me think on this one. Wife and 2 daughters. Guess I'm going with #3. Our cat wants to "help", but.......... :cat:

Well, when Joey was young and I was buying the shells ..He was the designated "cleaner".... But now he does most of the birds since he has had a long time to get good at it...He cleans them twice as fast as I do! :)

I clean the ducks and my son cleans the ringers. If you can skin the tough ones the rest are a cake walk.

I guess I'm lucky, my wife will help or do it by herself, and my daughter will usually help without me begging. I have'nt turned my son loose with one yet, but he is always right in the middle of it all. I'm lucky to have this good of a crew! :icon_chee

The younguns like to watch but I have to do all the work. Even cleaned birds on the motel sink at the UW-F meeting this weekend. :icon_chee

Pop's right, it used to be my "payment" for shells, gas, etc. Now it is simply frustrating to wait on him to do them so I usually end up with the deal. He at least helps by plucking feathers for me (takes him as long to pluck as it does me to cut, with puddlers anyway). Plus he stills holds the whole "rent" thing over me. :laughing5

That's right...and after you move into your own new castle in Palm Bay I will be talking "back rent" plus I still don't think we're quite square on the shells...As I recall you were good for two boxes a trip...no matter how many ducks you shot!

I have to say this year cleaning ducks hasn't been a real big issue for me. :sad11: You have to see them to be able to shoot them to be able to clean them.
