[Real V]

Hunted the lake Thursday morning got 1 mallard and 1 ringer only saw 4 birds.
But something strange happen on the way in. As I was running I spooked up about 6 ringers and out of nowhere a hawk came down and picked one of the ringers out of the sky and flew off with it in it's claws. Has anyone seen this or heard of it before? :eek:

It does happen. I have seen it once. An eagle knows better than to eat a ringer though :D

my sons and i where at sta 5 with a bunch of bird watchers when out of the sky comes a peregine falcon hits a coot feathers go up he cant lift it another one comes in they fight over it both leave coot's gator bait.

I was told by a good freind that it was a falcon and eats it's pray at the tri pod at monkey box.

We saw several falcons this past week at Okeechobee. Sometimes when your in a likely area, they will hang out in site of you, to watch you run ducks up. Then they dive on them, its a cool site. I've seen them kill coots before and just leave them. I guess they dont like coots hah.

I've seen eagles chasing cattle egrets. They must be good to eat? Probably no season or bag limit on them as exotic species. Anybody tried them?
