Well 2nd opening day and same story. NO none 0 zilch. And I am not alone. I had a freind at Toho this morning and out of all the huntera he talked to back at the ramp there were 3 ducks. We tried another lake only to quit around 830 to go look for a better place and blew up a pair of Florida's. That made that guys day the pair flew right over them they got 1 for the day.
Where oh where have the ducks all gone? We have used all of our backup, backup plans. MI is 3 hours away and we have never been there but would try anything at this point.
If I didnt love it so much and didnt need to mow the yard I would stay home tomorrow.

Well ... today as just about as good as opening day ... I managed to get a limit by 8 am ... all teal - 1 GW & 5 BW.
As usual ... I completely emptied the gun at the first bird of the day ... and watched a very dead duck fly away.  ;)
A blatant miss always humbles the shooter ... therefore, improving his shooting! :D I finished my limit of 6 birds in the next 4 shells. 2 singles, and a flock of about 50 BWT came strafing over the decoys - swung around & prepared to land. Mass carnage ensued :D ... 3 birds on the first shot, & picked up an escapee with the next. 4 birds in two shots ... what would Rut call that? ;)
Anyway ... I ended up with 6 birds for 6 shells ... an unusually rare day! :)

Glad to hear about our young people being in the blind! They are our future. Matt dont feel bad about forgetting to take the safety off, I'm 41 years old and still forget once in a while. Keep taking the young people hunting it's just as much fun seeing them take a bird as it is for me to get one.:D

Forgot the safety sounds familiar.Sunday the 13 yo Mikey is shooting a single shot 20 and forgot to pull back the hammer on his best opportunity of the day, a flock of GWTs in the face, I managed one drake out of it. His reaction time will get better, it's only his 3 hunt of his life. First hunt he shot a hooded merganser coasting into the decoys, text book, then the next he swatted a flock of coots and killed 3...:D . How could I tell him no?

Lake O was tough. Scattered some people had 9 while others had 0 most were out of Moore Haven and Lake Port and some on the south end near slims. Sat the shooting on the south end was good in 1 area but weak in another. I will be in Moore Haven Fri, Sat and Sun. if the ducks are weak I will be speck fishing which was good this past weekend.
