What time do the birds start moving on afternoon hunts?

You can't shoot until 3:00PM. Once shooting started it took us until 3:45 to have two limits. As long as hunters are moving the birds around you will get birds to shoot at. I suggest putting in the water no later than 2:00 PM to allow 30 mins of paddling time to get into a good spot and another 30 mins to get set up. If all goes well you pick up your birds at 4:00, clean up all your empty shells and decoys, and are back to truck by 5:00 just before it gets dark.:D

Like Super Dave said Can't shoot till 3pm. You do not need much cover. We had more birds fly with in range when we did not have the blinds up and when we removed the blinds. Put out some deeks and the other birds will come to check them out.
Keep an eye on your birds when they fall, you might have to go out and retreive them after you shoot a few. There are things that want to eat your ducks.

At sta 1w you just go where you think it looks good. everyone parks at the same spot.
Sta 5 your parking is on first come, but you can hunt anywhere.

You just have to park in a common area and row out to any spot you want to take. It's a pretty large area so you'll have no problem finding a place for yourself.
