and distance from Land O Lakes, just north of Tampa. How long do you think it will take to get there? I have an afternoon hunt permit for 11/28 and need to know the shortest, fastest distance between the two points.....

Holy smoke!!! STA 1W is west of west palm beach so that has got to be at least a 3+ hour trip one way! You have to go around the east side of lake O till you get to Canal point...turn left(east) on 98 and go about 18-20 miles till you get to where it intersects
880...go south 1/2 mile.

A long way....but it is something to see! :)

There is no easy way to 1W from Tampa....look at the map...you need to get to a point on US 98 about half way between the lake and the coast. This is Southern Ave. off I 95 going from east to west.......it is Rt. 80 ( actually STA 1W is on an alternative road RT. 880) both out of Belle Glade going east.

Your choices are US 27 south from Sebring to Belle Glade. Then across Rt 880 east.

Going down I 75 to US 70 and across to Okeechbee and then south on 98 (441) and following US 98 east when it splits from 441.

You may be able to pick another way....but these are ideas.

I've been sizing up different routes and I'm afraid I bit off more than I can chew getting a afternoon hunt on Sunday when I have to be to work on Monday. But I'd feel extremely guilty not using the permit......
