Anybody got a Tallahassee area report?

Seminole? Jackson? Iamonia? Miccosukee? favorite woody roost?

I went to PCS Sat AM and got 2 man total of 6 ringers/bluebills with son. Missed too many. There were teal there but not flying over us. All in all a good trip but below usual PCS standards for opening day.

Not many birds in this area. The ponds at the refuge didn't even have many ducks as of Wednesday. :(

Yeah, the the duck hunting that day was good but the football was disappointing for us Nole fans.

Report from 11/24 - Hunted Lake Munson in AM. Only saw a few woodies. Lucked out when drake Widgeon came right for my dekes. My first in my many years hunting in this area.

Blindhog- What/where is PCS?

I hunted Jackson, Mic and seminole over the opening week with mixed results.

the most dissipointing time was Seminole- Where i have seen thousands on the big lake in the past there were jsut a few coots. The most exciting thing was a pair of drake spoonies near 3rivers- Sad very sad.

BMan, "PCS" is a Florida FWC WMA near Live Oak that is actually phosphate mining pits belonging to PCS Phosphate. It is really a different world from Micc/Sem/Iamonia etc but they have lots of species there - anything you can name at any given point of the season.

Its muddy - the phosphate mud is stickier and stinkier than "regular" mud. Dont bring anything you want to keep clean. This mud is over 12 feet deep in places so DONT TRY TO WADE.
There are sand islands here and there you can get out on to hunt but check your footing carefully first with a paddle.

Use as little and light of a boat as you can. Electric motor only. You may have to launch down a very steep levy bank (15 ft high and 30 degree slope).

Mostly teal, ringers, bluebills. I have seen/bagged mallard, mottled, pintail, redhead, spoonies, whistling ducks, buffle, hoodies, etc.

Main drawback is high # of hunters. Number should drop some as season goes on. You must get there EARLY. MAny camp in line from the evening before outside the gates. Sats and Weds are hunt days. I believe you can scout the day before the 2nd phase opens.
