hey yall. I am trying to a boat to get for duck hunting/fishing. I have looked at the war eagles and the tracker grizzilys, but not being able to take them out i was wondering if yall could give me any advice that would help make my decision earlier. I am also trying to find a good retriever because wading out for the ducks is getting old real fast or having to go get the duck before a turtle does and having to move the boat also does. so any suggestions i would really appreciate it, thank you mike

i have been thinking outboard for two reasons, one is because of budget and two is because i like to go salt water fishing and i have heard that the salt water can really mess up a mud motor. also i will try to become a member i just have to wait a couple of paychecks

i have a g3 with a 50 hp yamaha they have there good points but the hydrilla can mess you up. like the hull for hunting and the space to carry things. check out the mudfest thread and you can see alot of differnt rigs

Check out our sponsors on the top of the page. We have several MM dealers who may have an outboard or two for sale.

Cartermt, I have a 1648 2004 Grizzly and it has served me well in the marsh- but I would not probably take it out on the bay, does not handle the chop real well. It is a "cheap" boat because I have been on a budget for a while. I've been running a longtail on it and now problems. You are probably better off with a Lowe roughneck or G3 as was suggested, get the high transom and make sure you have high sides. A lot of fellows run the shortail mud motors in the salt and brackish waters in the Gulf coast, Utah, East coast and only complain about the mufflers rusting but they can handle it.

Trying to get double duty ourt of one boat is kind of like hammering with the flat side of pliers
If you can afford it, look for 2 quality used boats instead of 1 to do both.

first off, i want to thank you all for all your comments. my one big problem is that i am in a tight budget which is why unless i can find a deal i cannot refuse i will have to stick with the outboard. i have looked at the g3s and lowes and grizzilies but besides the grizzilies i cannot find any prices. i know that the way things are goin i wont be able to get the boat for this season but i am still lookin to get prepared because next season i will have one. i do have one question for yall, has anyone ever hunted watermelon pond outside of newberry. and once again thank you to everyone, and trust me i am looking at all the places yall talk about and mudfest looked like an extremely fun time
