FWC Proposes to open Glades Nov. 15

I have spoken with Chuck Collings, FWC Regional Director. The paperwork to open the glades Nov. 15 is in Tallahassee and he expects an ok soon.

There is every reason to believe the glades will be open well before the season starts.

Incidentally, a fly over spotted many deer on the levees and remaining tree islands in some sections of the glades. However, many areas have no or very few deer. A review will be made to determine if future closings can be more selective.

The FWC people are well aware of our concerns and support our desire to get the glades open asap.

We have been informed the papers were signed today to reopen the glades and an announcement is expected soon from the FWC.

We have tried to get a copy of the papers, but no luck so far.....however, no reason to expect any thing but a notice on the FWC web site first.....so check there from time to time. Newton
