Went out Saturday to scout old faithful, only saw about a dozen ducks. Not a lot of coots or moorhens either. Is anybody else having this problem? Not been cold enough up North to make birds think its time to come south? My wife talked to family in Pa. and they said its been turning cold. Sure hope birds show up in the next two weeks! Hope yall been having better luck finding birds than me.

From what I've seen the Eastern part gets birds first, then the inland parts. Lots of hydrilla to eat but nothing there to eat it. If they dont show by openning am. I'll go to shoot woodys, I know where they live.

Went out a week ago only saw some mottleds, but tons of coots and moorhens. Did shoot teal during the mini season so hopefully there still around. Looks like a temperature drop for next week. I am still going saturday for the opener.

Saw a very large flight of pintail whith some teal crossing the twin span going towards bayou savauge. **** refuge is closed due to all the homes and boats floating around, bunch of teal in ponds and canals.

Spoke with some locals at a watering hole, they stated it was the best LA opener in years.

I guess if I will be here for some time I will need my Equipment and enjoy some hunting.

Can't wait to get back to florida thursday I got lotts to do to get ready.

I guess that y'all aren't looking in the right spots. I mean c'mon. They are all over the walmart ponds near my place and the major intersections that have retention ponds. go figure right.....

I too hope that some birds start working their way down or one of the guys in my group is going to b*tch a lot and that will drive me absolutely batty. No amount of complaining will get the birds to move. if it did then duck hunters would be the biggest bunch of whiners there are hah!

Wilbur, I sent you a message earlier, but I dont think it went thru.Got a message that the site was broken or out of service. Just wanted to tell you I hunted oka in the fog last fri. and got nothing. Sat I got 6 by 10 am. 2 greenwings and 4 ringers. Sun Bill (my son) and I went out and got 3 each. 1 gadwell, 1bluewing teal, and 4 ringers. Bill had a shot at a greenhead mallard, Im sure he hit him but he kept on going and landed in the middle of the lake. We also had spoonbills look us over.First time I ever saw greenwings, spoonies and gadwell at oka. Oh yea we also saw a few redheads, bluebills and cans in the middle of the lake with our binoculars. See you dec 10 or 11th.
