I wanted to let you all know that Joe Benedict has agreed to serve as FWC’s next Waterfowl Management Program Coordinator. Joe will be located in the North Florida Waterfowl Field Station in Tallahassee, and will start in his new role on June 27.

Joe earned a B.S. in Wildlife at Unity College, and an M.S. in Wildlife Science at Auburn University where his Master's work focused on the use of aquatic plants by waterfowl wintering at Guntersville Reservoir in Alabama. Joe joined the Commission in January 1999 as a Waterfowl Biologist with the Waterfowl Management Section. Since November 2004, Joe has been serving as the Wetland Wildlife Coordinator with the Aquatic Habitat Conservation and Restoration Section.

I have had the good fortune of working with Joe on many projects over the past seven years that I have been with FWC. Joe is an extremely intelligent guy and is always willing to consider all points-of-view on the issues. He will be a great advocate for waterfowl in the FWC, the state, and the nation. We are fortunate to have him as the new Waterfowl Management Program Coordinator.

I had the pleasure to work with Joe on the Woodduck banding program . There could not have been a better choice than Joe Benedict to take the position.
