did anyone actually go hunting??

so....anybody get some shooting in?? not me, ive been working 12 hours a day since last monday thanks to hurricane frances. finally got off sunday but hurricane jeanne had something to say about me going hunting. im not a happy camper, but at least there is plenty of water for the birds come thanksgiving time.

can anybody post pics to make me more jealous?? or at least that im not the only one who didnt get to go (doubt i am).

Some guys from the south hunted Lake O. But I heard they didn't do great.

I went Saturday morning and got mugged by mottles. Saw a few teal but they had a place to go in mind and had no intention of stopping by to play.

Hunted Sat. morning - managed to scrape down 2 teal. Not many birds around.

Went this morning and found it to be slow but I got my 4 birds. I should have been done by 8:00 but I missed getting any from two of the five flocks that decoyed.

I took the dog which made me have to say those dreaded words...NO bird!! She really knew I was not doing well when I didn't shoot at the mottled that landed in the decoys.

I need to shoot some clays or buy stock in the ammo companies.

BTW, I hunted Sat and Wed w/ a big, fat zero for the count. No shots fired, no ducks to decoy. Just some lookers and speedsters headed someplace else.

Yes I hunted where I'd planned.

Can't blame the chokes for my poor shooting. I'm pretty sure I was shooting over them as they were dropping. Most of the ones I did hit were not with the first shot.....but after they'd flared and straightened out.

Finally got to go Tuesday afternoon saw about a dozzen woodys, had 3 sneak in on me while I was getting out my face mask. Never fired a shot. Just nice to get out and watch what we all love, lots of time to shoot later ! :D

Well early season was a bust but I played hooky from replacing all the fence I have down and the roof repair and scratched down nine doves....finally drawing a little blood for the new season....what a great day! Newton

They canceled the call in at Dupuis but allowed first come first pick for the field........many spots still flooded, but a few of us got out and a few birds flew a corner. Still poor conditions there. I should have done better, missed a lot as I hadn't pull a trigger since last January....nine birds in 28 shots. Newton

BTW, Thanks Duckmanhr for the hunt and I hope I didn't ruin my chances in the future when I lost my temper over the low bird shooters. I do however appreciate the invite and my vision!:cool: ;)

We'll have to get Carl back down for some real waterfowl and leave the mudhens for another day. (insider joke)

I do hope to set him up w/ a King rail tomorrow.
