Well, the water level has been dropping in this section of the SJR ... so, it was time to see *exactly* how low the water has gotten ... USGS said that it was down to .80 MSL on Saturday.

I scared up a couple of hundred BWT from this mudflat ...

Enough mud to have some fun ... ;)

Yes ... it gets splattered everywhere.

I even let my daughter drive for a while.

How come she doesn't have mud all over her?

Kevin Hall

Probably because she was smart enough to stay in the front of the boat while I was doing powerslides ... ;)

Good idea, looks like the perfect place for the UW Fest. Its the 'Nawth's turn this year IIRC.

Yeah ... the water is still going to drop a little more as spring gets here. We just have to pick a date that doesn't conflict with anything else. :help:

I'm in lets take our time and plan it out right. We need food, beer and gas. Maybe we can compete with the shindig the south guys put on. I think late spring when it's nice and dry and warm.

Got to be careful with the beer.... :occasion14

Agreed ... not on the Seminole county side of the river.

We could probably arrange to get one of the "group camp" areas on the Lake Monroe Conservation area (Beck's pasture) as a place to have a cookout.

Time .... end of March? Middle of April? or April/May? The absolute lowest water level last year was right around May 5th. (.25 MSL) That was just slightly lower that when we has our mudfest last year (.30 MSL)

When the water is that low ... the level is determined by wind (speed & direction) more than anything else ... barring any large amount of rainfall.

Since I'm a bit of a transient, I can bring some of that Southern mudfesting talent up to the north :) . Let me know what I can help with. I'd really like to see a poker run happen up there like we did at the South fest last year, so if you want help with mapping or something along those lines, I can do that too.

Oh, and if I can make it, you know I'll bring a small mudharem out to help deal cards! :icon_cat: :icon_cat:

And not too warm Pat. I still remember the working up a sweat pulling Kevin's boat out!

Yeah ... my daughter loved that! Mudboats are heavy when they are completely up into the grass! ;)

I've been kicking around the idea of a Poker Run since last year ... most of it is already worked out ... both for outboards & MMs ... 2 "common" points & three points specific to the motor. :)

or better yet, Chad getting stuck getting back to his boat.... Now that was funny. :occasion14

Yeah ... you'd think that common sense would tell you not to walk off into the mudflat ... especially, when there is good, solid ground under your feet. :smileinbo ;)

At the south fest, we had 7 points (start/finish line acting as 2) and only 5 of the 7 were outboard accessable to give a slight advantage to the mudmotors since it is a mudfest after all. BTW, Pat did not make it to the mm points :)

I don't think Pat wanted to trash his high dollar lifter prop in that stuff. I know I wouldn't even if my boat would run and plane in that little amount of water.

I didn't make it to any points.

Depending on the date, count me in. I haven't really tested my new rig yet in the deep stuff. I look forward to seeing what she can and can't do! :occasion14
