I'm having trouble getting a governor spring for my 9hp Briggs GoDevil from the local small engine shops. Are there any MM dealers Central/South that might have one?

Try Fast Duck on the banner or Lamar Cox, the Go Devil dealer down in Melbourn.

I looked at both sites already, neither one deals in Go Devils anymore. Everyone is MB now.

An engine is an engine doesnt matter what drive it is on.

go through the manufacturer parts lookup.

You will need the engine model # to find the correct parts list for your engine.

I've always found parts at one of two lawn mower repair centers here in Lakeland. They have been able to look up the parts for me based on the number on the motor.

Phil,

Treasure coast Lawn Equip on Bayshore has helped me in the past. I normally look up the parts numbers myself on the briggs site just to save time.

I've done all the "small engine" online sites, none of them have the spring for the model/application. I've had it on order with Treasure Coast Lawn Equipment for 3 weeks now, they tell me that it is back ordered from Briggs, and cannot give me an estimated delivery. As it stands now I'm in the process of swapping the 9hp Briggs for an 18hp Honda so the spring is becoming moot.........Thanks for all the suggestions.

Well, I haven't completed the engine swap yet and I finally got my new springs from Treasure Coast Lawn Equip...... what a difference having the correct/intact spring. My briggs idles properly now and has smooth acceleration to top end. I'll run the 9hp until I get a prop for the 18 and fab some pods to handle the extra weight.
