This could turn out to be a terrific new duck hunting destination in Martin County. Some members of the county commision are anti-public access so we need to stay on top of this one.

Restoration and preservation of the Allapattah Ranch – a 20,000-acre former beef cattle ranch – is being accomplished through a multi-agency partnership of the South Florida Water Management District, the USDA/Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Martin County, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The overall restoration goal is to reestablish and enhance wetlands for wildlife, improve water quality and decrease storm water flows into the St. Lucie Estuary and the Indian River Lagoon. This will provide enhanced habitat and accelerate Everglades restoration benefits.
