FWC is currently considering a large number of rule changes, which would take effect July 1, 2008. This is to remind you that we encourage your comments and input on those changes. Commenting is very easy: You go to our home page (www.MyFWC.com), under the heading “Quick Clicks” click on “Proposed Rule Changes.” Click on “A summary of proposed rule changes is available here.” Then click on the green box with the rule number you're interested in. That will open up a form for your comments on that rule.

There are a few rule-change proposals that may be of particular interest to waterfowl hunters:

68A-11.003 Use of Motorboats on Certain Waters; Permits - The proposed rule would allow motors up to 10 hp on Lake Miccosukee, Lake Iamonia and Carr Lake during duck season, and allow motors of any size during the Youth Waterfowl Hunt.

68A-13.003 Hunting Regulations for Ducks, Geese and Coots - The proposed rule would expand the Canada goose season to statewide.

Rule changes for Specific WMA's and WEA's are listed by area under the following rules:
68A-15.061, 68A-15.062, 68A-15.063, 68A-15.064, and 68A-15.065 Specific Regulations for Wildlife Management Areas (by region).
68A-17.005 Specific Regulations for Wildlife and Environmental Areas.

Please use this easy method to let us know what you think and make your voice heard!

Done. :)

A few more things that UW has been working on ...

Now ... how about a sandhill crane season? ;)

I have made my comments, in both cases to thank FWC for the welcome changes.

I know everyone out there wants to bag their first Florida goose.

And to those of us in Tallahassee, there is no greater thing than being able to use a 10 hp motor on our local (though nearly dried-up) lakes.

Kudos to Diane and SWILLI1054 (Stephen Williamson) and any others involved for helping make the new motor limit possible for next year.
