I have seen people use palm frons for their duck blinds before. How are they attached to the boat (frame) and can they withstand going down the road at 75 mph?

Hitch is the real expert at this so maybe he will chime in. He has some great pics of how it is done.
But what I have done is attach them to a frame blind using cable ties. You can also add some kind of netting to the frame to attach fronds.
Cut the stalk of the frond down as far as you can. Drill a hole in the center of the remaining frond stalk to use the cable tie. When attaching the frond to the blind point the stalk towards the bow of the boat.
I think Hitch even intertwines the strands of the fronds together.
It is best to put it all together when the fronds are green, then set the blind in the sun for a couple of weeks to get it brown.
BTW, if you let the fronds brown in the carport or garage or any shaded area they will not turn as brown, but a less desirable almost light brown/green color.
Anyway, that's what I learned from Hitch's pictures.
I just attach it to pvc. Just cut pvc in about 6-8in, spray paint 'em, screw 'em in to a long 2x2 that covers the sides of you boat, get 4 clamps and clamp 'em on the sides and bam, there ya go.

I thought I would camo paint the old ford truck and slap some fronds on it for a blind and drive to some old hunting spots. By the pictures I have seen I only have to negotiate a ditch or two and then I have hay fields all the way from Moore Haven to Okee.

That sounds good. Try and have it ready for early teal and make sure the A.C. is running strong. If not we need to head out on my rig in a couple of weeks.

It is rainy here this afternoon so I am touching up decoys and getting ready. Season can't get here soon enough. Oh, and of course the bar results. :wav:

Randy, you're on a dangerous path. With the low water levels you won't even make it into the swamp this year! :blob9:

heck you must have not made it to the mudfest this year i had the g3 back in there pretty good of course once we came off plane it took some work to get her back out but thats why we sometimes bring kayaks and canoes and use the g3 as a mother ship. and of course with kevin and the mud zamboni we can go anywhere heck id even wash it off afterwords need a pressure sprayer though
