South Florida members please plan to attend the WRAC Rec Workshop on Monday evening. Items on the agenda include the Recreation Management Plan which will be in place for 5 years for all SFWMD properties and a discussion of formation of a future Boat Ramp Task Force to identify ownership, and responsibilities for operation of baot ramps within the district. In addition Broward County will be on hand to provide a status report for the planning processes for Holiday Park.

BTW, If you have a specific boat ramp that is in need of repair or improvement please bring that information to the workshop so that the agency staff are aware of the issues.

The meeting is at the SFWMD HQ on Gun Club Road in West Palm Beach. Time is 5:00 to 8:00

This document will cover the recreational access to hundreds of thousands of acres of public land from Orlando south to Florida Bay.....about 25% of the state.

UW-F has been working with the District for several years in numerous meetings and lobbying contacts as they compiled the document. It is not everything we want....in fact some of it has "legalise" that could be a problem for access under certain conditions...but over all it is the best we can reasonably expect and much better than past rules. We were able to make last minute suggestions which we hope will be incorporated in the "final" version to be discussed Monday.

Hope to see a number of members there....especially those who want to have input in the process, even at this late date. The document will be in force for five years before another major review.....Lots of time to complain, but with no excuse, if you did not make the meetings before it was approved by the District.
