Fun time had by all - click here for pics (http://s51.photobucket.com/albums/f378/pretenderfishing/Mudfest%20Weekend/)

Lost my pics from Saturday (user error) and my camera had no battery Sunday, but luckily my friend Doug got plenty of good shots and videos. Thanks to all who came out, especially those who came to help set up the course Saturday, Billy for ordering the shirts, and Mike and the 8sg for cooking some great food. Also thanks to Dan and Terry for lightening my load. It was great to see some members and potential members have a good time in the marsh. I for one am looking forward to the upcoming North Florida Mudfest. Juan and I agree, there needs to be one for each area each year. Heck we have 7 months to kill between seasons!

Bonus: we raised $160 for the youth hunts from the poker run alone!

Thanks for posting on the Public Forum about the fun we had at MUDFEST.....This is the UW-F Recruitment Forum!!!! Hopefully folks will see what UW-F is about on this forum and click on MEMBERSHIP and JOIN!!!

Definitely, each Region can have a MUDFEST, or any event, anytime....Strong Regions are what will continue UW-F's growth and make the UW-F advocacy for Florida's duck hunters ever more effective.

We do plan to have a minimum of one each off season "north and south" on alternate years: UW-F MUDFEST AND FAMILY PICNIC

Next year it will be the members up "north" time to plan the party!

I'm leaning in that direction. You coming up? If so, I might be able to offer you a room at my place here in Melbourne.

Mudfest '07 was a huge success due to the contributions of many members. Let me start with the "thank you" part:

The 8th SG (Jorge, Alex, Juan, Pepi, Eddy and the rest), Captmako, ChiefBubba, Mataboy came thru in a big way - thanks for pulling the food together and feeding everybody. We had a choice locale and you guys did a great job with the food!

Dead Ringer and Mataboy - great job with the Poker Run course. The course proved to be challenging enough without disabling any vessels. Just about the right amount of time and based on conversations I think everybody really enjoyed it.

Billy (aka Tshirt and Party organizer) - one of the best ways to remember an event is to have a tshirt that reflects the good times we had. You did a nice job putting the design together, signing up sponsors and having everything ready on time for the event. Thank you for taking it on and delivering.

We had about 6 airboats and 15 mud boats run the course. When you get that many boats together running narrow trails there's always the possibility of some close calls but there were no issues that I am aware of.

I took my family (wife, 9 and 11 yr olds) and they had a blast. They had a great time running thru the marsh with those muddy conditions and drag racing to the checkpoints.

As John mentioned, I think it's feasible to make this a yearly event and that's exactly what we plan to do.

PS: John didn't disappoint us - he promised Mud Queens and that's exactly what we got. Pepi, I'm sorry you missed it but there's plenty of pictures.

I've got a bunch of pictures that I'll be uploading at http://s60.photobucket.com/albums/h13/seafever/Mudfest%2007/.

Cool, Way sorry I missed it! I had to spend the entire day in Lake Placid. Finally found an inexpensive, quality motor. I was planning on going for a while then the motor popped up. Glad everyone had fun.:icon_thumr

Great job to all that helped setup this event. My kids and I had an absolute blast! Even the weather behaved although at times the wind made running the airboat challenging. The food was excellent especially those pork chunks. Hats off to the “chef”!

We really enjoyed meeting everyone and attaching faces to names.

Here are some more pictures for your enjoyment
