took my son trey hog hunting in lake port on valinetines day used chappy's outfitters had a great hunt sat in a stand for awhile then we started what i would call the funnest hunt ever. the dogs were baying and then they final caught and held the hog aguy who came down from mi. got his trey said he had drove further so he could go first. than the dogs where at it again this time they got a big one that kept breaking away he cut up one of the dogs pretty bad.they found another one on the way back in and trey got his first hog. i'd reccomend ed and his dogs to anyone wanting a fun time hunting hogs down there.bret and his wife sherry made us feel like long time friends when we came back in great operation. thanks for a great time be seeing them again soon.

Folks....look out for the problems even a small amount of blood from a pig can cause. I was speaking with a fellow at a recent meeting who had hog hunted forever....mostly bow now....and killed a hog, wiped off the arrow point, put the hog in the truck and had it processed....The small amount of blood he accidentally got on one finger from the point put him in the hospital and home recuperating for three months from the disease the hog had....almost killed him.

Randy,
It is best that you buy some latexgloves in the medical section of walmart and use them while cleaning any game. Not that every hog has some disease or every duck either. THere is the chance that the one you have may give you something in return.
I keep a bottle of waterless cleanser ,gloves and paper towels in all of my vehicles. It may seem like a pain, BUT it is nothing compared to the problems that you might encounter.

Hogs, wild or domesticated can carry brucellosis (sp). It is transmitted from blood and other bodily fluids. It doesn't hurt the meat just you if it gets in your system. I like to use the playtex rubber gloves for cleaning hogs cause they come up a little higher on the arms. If you do much pig cleanin get some... it's cheap insurance!

I've cleaned hundreds of wild hogs over the last 26 years and only started using gloves about 6 years ago. I've been lucky, but wouldn't risk it without em anymore. From what I hear, it's one nasty sickness that lasts a long, long time.

We always try to use latex when possible especially on hogs. I usually end up tearing a box up due to large hands, so occasionally xtra lg dishwashing gloves are the order of the day. Plus we are constantly washing or wiping down. Also, I believe I've read someplace that brucellosis can be contracted through breathing if an infected animal is dusty or muddy and the spores get inhaled. I'm not positive about this, maybe David B could elaborate?
