26", 5lbs11oz. She hit the Mirrolure 20MR18 right at the rod tip. I was wading and ready to pull the lure out of the water and recast when out of nowhere this big girl slams the plug:cool:

And that's why only one may be in your bag. Do you think the limit is too liberal?

I'm afraid I'm with cap't Jeff on this(did I really say that??) I have read extensively on trout reproduction and it is FAR better for the resource to keep the legal limit of 4 15"-20" fish than just one big spawner like her. a 15" fish will spawn about 10,000 eggs a 20" fish 100,000 eggs a 26" fish.......a million! Now thats a big differance.
I'm not going to preach...that was a nice fish. I personally(after learning these facts especially) have released more than a dozen fish over 5 pounds last season. Several were+7 and one was a nine on the boga...I have the pictures and thats enough for me...besides, Redfish eat better and I catch plenty of those :D

Well I guess you better send some reds on down this way. :)
I know what you guys are saying is correct. I have also released hundreds of legal fish over the past years. If this wasn't the first trout out of my favorite fishing hole this year she might have been released as well. After getting skunked a couple times and catching several under the slot snook I think my wife was wondering why I was coming home smelling like fish with nothing to show for it:D
BTW I threw the trout fillets on the grill last night with lemon, butter, old bay, garlic powder...mmmmm the family had a treat!
