Don,

Looks like you need a bragging strap for all them birds.

If only they were puddlers!:D

I'm glad you and Don C. had a good season.

I wish they were puddlers as well (Chet would be proud though!).:(

Since they are divers that tells the world not only are you a good enough duck hunter to get the ducks close. You are also a good enough marksman to hit them.

With flutter ducks you only have to get them close. And with shovelers you just have to jump up and scream bang and they'll drop out of the air. Yes I don't even call shovelers flutter ducks. The fall under that "other duck" catagory.

Here is the pic from a hunt in Brevard. My buddy and I got some bills (Chet said that makes us good hunters and good shots!! :D), a pair of mottleds, and I got a greenhead (I say that makes us better than diver hunters!!! ;))

Here's a close up of the greenhead. He's at the taximdermist's right now!!! :D

Here's G8Rvet, Fyrestorm and I after our flooded timber hunt for woodies. We were outside of Tallahassee on the last day of the season. G8R was a great host and we had an awesome hunt. We got 9 woodies (7 drakes), 2 teal (BW & GW), and one hooded merganser. G8R shot the hoody with a muzzleloader shotgun, and I was behind him picking up downed woodies. I saw it fluttering down, side-stepped, and grabbed it out of mid-air!!! What an awesome way to end the season, thanks G8R!!! :)

I've had a lot of things going on in my life that kept me out of the marsh this season. I hunted less than in any year in recent memory. BUT, I had some great hunts, with many firsts.

I got my first greenhead in central Florida.
I got my first black bellies.
I got my first wood ducks.
I got my first widgeon.
AND, I took my kids on their first duck hunt.

That does make you a good shot and a good duck hunter. Now lay off all the hens and become a better duck hunter grasshopper. That mallard had a bunch of white on its back. Looked like a mallard muscovy cross.

Yeah, unfortunately the drakes wouldn't play that day Chet. Normally I target the drake bills (they're easy enough to spot), but it was a slow morning, and only the hens came in.
The greenhead isn't migratory, but he ain't got any muscovy in him either. His head is as green as yall's envy!!! ;) :D
Believe it or not, that area of the river, as well as the northern part of the river has mega-bills. I could shoot a limit of them every time I go. I usually hold out for the puddlers though!! :D

Rut,

I had three Greenheads come in on me this past season along the N end of the Indian Rv.

Shot one and after a marathon retrieve (shot the duck, it sailed 400yds out, waded out, birds head came up while I was 60yds away, I put two cripple shots on it and it jumped only to fly back to my decoys and die, walked back 400yds...that was a mouthful.)

When I cleaned it, guess what, it was full of corn.

Probably local.

Full of corn in Florida:confused: . Sounds like someone in the area is baiting.

Say what you want Rut. I still think it had more muscovy than greenhead in it.

One more thing. When you put more weight on you can get a larger bullet belt. It may increase your hit ratio.

Chet, anyone can go to the big water and shoot a limit of dumb bills. If you want a challenge, try to limit on puddlers. C'mon over, I'll give ya lessons!! :D

Don't be upset because you still haven't shot a greenhead. That duck is a mix! Either white farm duck or shoveler. He sure isn't a greenhead with those white sholders. It's not a full greenhead but its close.

I told him the same thing Chet...........but he's as stubborn as you.:D

I still think you should have popped some of those Eiders you saw.

Rut; I will say the thought of that thing hooking up with a Florida Duck gives me nightmares. So althoug I Fell bad you haven't got a mallard yet, I'm glade you culled that thing out of the flock.

Actually Chethro, I shot some greenheads up in Virginia a few years back. So much for your theory, actually, that's pretty much how all of your theories go - they are complete BS.
At least I have shot some greenheads, unlike you, or Fairystorm!! :D
Let me say it one more time, his head was as green as yall's envy!!
