Article on S. FL Hunting and STA's

The Miami Herald ran an article on hunting in the Glades and the situation with access to STA's yesterday.

The SFWMD seems to be sitting on both sides of the fence - one quote says "its the policy fo this district to make land available for public usage". Then elswhere in the article it says - not all STA's are safe for hunting and goes on to talk about damage hunters may cause to the vegitation filtering the water.

I don't have a good feeling about future access to more STA's.

Thanks for posting the article.

This is where UWF attendance at the SWFMD meetings is so critical. We need to be in front of these guys at every chance to keep the pressure on. The formation of a recreational use advisory group that will meet 2 or 3 times a year will be a great benefit to our cause.

I continue to believe that access to the STA's may just be the most important single issue affecting south Florida duck hunters.
