Great job Steve on showing the public that we(the true duck hunters) do not tolerate this type of activity. It just goes to show that in this day and age we must police ourselves and when need be bring in the authorities.

Great article! Someone should send a copy of it to those 'other guys' who referred to the 'jerks' (trying to be nice here!) as hunters!

Thanks to all for the kind words. And thanks to UWF for doing such a great job of protecting our resources and our sport, and for providing me with so much to write about.

"They got pretty close to these guys and watched them shoot all morning," Steelman said. "John and Greg, they're seasoned officers and they always do a heck of job. They're always out where they need to be and they were in the right place at the right time."

They did a great job but 58 additional ducks really didn't need to die.:eusa_naug

That's like watching a hooker give 58 BJ's then arresting her:fart:

I believe each duck ups the fine.

It's also more "ammunition" to press for Federal charges. As said before if Fed charges are brought against them I can assure you it will deter them from this behavior again and could possibly deter others with the right publicity.

We'll it's a little different if you're the undercover LEO... sitting in a kayak in the marsh or.... nevermind.

Actually I understand your point Jeff but I have to side with the FWC on this one. It was pretty clear that we had folks shooting WAY over the limit out there. If FWC would have gone in and busted them when they were 2 or 3 or 4 ducks over the limit they might have been able to wiggle out of stiff fines. 11 or 12 ducks over the limit for each guy shows a willful disregard for the law and helps the per duck fines get to a hurtful level.

After (23) twenty-three years on the job, I see no need for that type of overkill per say.

They had enough for a Federal case without all the carnage.

It's a "double edge" sword.

Sure, it looks good in the press but in the mean time we have to go plead our case to the governing board on how "we" deplore the poachers actions.

Would they let them shoot (88) eighty-eight deer or cows before coming forward?

I see both sides.....but the extreeme # will show any judge that this was not a mere oversite but a blatant violation worthy of a maximum penalty under law. Yes, 58 ducks are alot....but if it keeps these a-jax's(nice word:icon_smil ) out of "action"..It was worth it.
