Are you talking about the kind you can stick in the mud? If so Macks PW has one made by Knight. It's mostly aluminum and is comfortable. I just ordered one but it is on backorder.

yes those are what i'm talking about but i'm only 15, and i don't have money to pay for all this stuff. i think that price is a little high so anywhere i can get one for cheaper would be nice.

If you're only 15 you should be able to stand all morning.:fart:

Just kidding, I think I said something like that to my 16 year old son.

I made a couple marsh seats. One is the swivel part of a strap on tree stand seat. I used some square steel tubing that I had laying around and it worked out pretty good. The other one was one of those bucket top seats with a piece of 1" closet rod dowel attached to the bottom. That one only lasted 1 hunt.

I think the Mack's or Cabela's seat is a pretty good deal and they are adjustable for different water depth.

Bottom line, if you are a good fabricator you may be able to make one but you'll spend some money and it will not be nearly as nice as the ones you can buy.

I use two milk crates stacked and zipped tied. I then cut the base out of the bottom crate leaving an open area inside where I keep my decoys. I serves dual purpose and is very cunfi too.

a 2x4 nailed to a a piece of plywood to form the letter "T" works great. It is more like a leaning post than a seat though. When I was in highschool we used to go to construction sites and pick up the scrap to make them. So the price was always right....FREE.

Bar stools also work well if the water level is to high for lawn chairs. You can buy bar stools at Target for $10.00

If you are anywhere near Ft. lauderdale we can fab one up for ya'

I have a garage full of 2 x 4 and plywood, I would be happy to make you a seat. If you want one out of metal, I have plenty of that to.

I made my first "duck bucket" from a 5 gallon plastic paint bucket. Cut a piece of 1/4" plywood a little smaller then the top, cover with scrap carpet padding and cover that with burlap. Sthe burlap to the bottom of the plywood. Attach the seat to the bucket with screws through the lid into the plywood. Paint the bucket olive or any other camo like color. It a graet seat and storage bucket. They tend to float if the water is too deep. Carry a lot of shells for ballast. Good luck.

Take a 3" piece of PVC, a 4" piece of PVC, a 4" toilet flange, a 12-16" piece of 2"x6" or 2"x8", a few screws and a bit of PVC glue and you are set for under $10.

1.Attach the flange to one end of the 4" PVC with PVC glue
2.Slide the 3" piece inside the 4" piece
3.Drill ~ 3/4" holes every 6" through the 3" and 4" PVC while they are together
4.Use a piece of conduit through the holes and you can slide the 3" up and down in the 4" for adjustable hieghts...will also help keep the seat from sinking in real soft mud.
5. Attach the piece of wood (or seat if you prefer) to the toilet flange.

Built a couple before the end of the season using the 3" and 4" PVC, man those things could hold up engine blocks:tongue11: During the summer I'll probably make a few with 1 1/4" and 1 1/2". I borrowed 2 of these from Backcast and they were more than strong enough to hold me, so they should work for about anyone.

So you say....haven't seen the evidence back yet! Just joking, hold on to em. Glad they worked out! Now don't get used to an upholstered seat with quick dry foam like mine.

Yes. If I ever saw them again, I'd post a pic:)

I used a drain flange for a shower attached to the top piece of PVC. On top of that I screwed in round pieces of plywood. Put quick dry foam on top and had them upholstered.

Like Steve W said earlier...

A stool seat (or amicable replacement)
A toilet flange
and 3'-4' piece of PVC to fit the toilet flange.

Rest is common sense...Good luck

I found an old wooden bar stool in my neighbors trash pile. I put a little larger piece of plywood on top and screwed the same size to one of the sides. This has worked great for a platform for my dog but would work for people too. When I am thigh or so deep I stand it up and she sits on it right beside me. When it is knee deep I lay it on it's side with the platform up. It keeps her out of the water. She is a Toller, so she is pretty short. I usually throw it out before I park the boat, but it is pretty light.

I finished my seats tonight. Yeah, I know, a little late for this season, but they'll be great next season!! :toothy1:
I will put them through their trial run this weekend at STA5. I'd post pics, but I screwed up my camera on the last trip to STA5 and haven't got it fixed yet.
