Well, our local FFWC was out today on "the grade" and were checking hunters on the way out from "the open marsh" and TMG/Broadmoor.
Kudos to Lt. Randy Bowlin and his officers for taking the initiative to do this..It is what legitimate waterfowlers have been asking be done for a long time. I was glad to show them my $88 license and my *S I G N E D* $15 fed stamp and was pleased that they took the time to check my shells and if my shotgun was plugged. The officer took a look around in my boat/truck. He was thorough and efficient and had my on my way in no time.
They were courteous and professional.... I will be sending a letter praising their efforts to Ken Haddad.
Just maybe this will put a little fear in the "outlaw" element!
Thanks Guys!! :icon_smil

I agree! They did a great job today checking everyone. I also thanked them for checking and for nailing the dudes down south!

I'd like to add my thanks as well. While Joe was getting raked over the coals Newton and I had a very pleasant conversation with the LEO's Hmmmm... some folks must LOOK like they need a little extra checkin':love4: or maybe it was because we only had ONE duck:help: and they felt sorry for us.:tongue11:
Seriously it was great to see the FFWCC LEO's out in full force. They had plenty of guys so that no one had to wait too long, in fact they had to kinda move us along as we may have been bending their ears a bit too much.
Thanks FFWCC!

Yep, that's definitely good to hear. Joe is right, more of that action will curtail the outlaw action. Good job FFWCC!!!

I have seen a much larger presence all over this year. The Feds at MINWR are out in force and there are a pair of Sherriff's Airboats patrolling the St. Johns every weekend checking hunters. Seem some tickets written and heard of many more. I am always sure to mention my/our gratitude for keeping the bad element thinking twice.

Why do we have to SIGN the stamp, why not SIGN the rest of them?

My guess would be that it "cancels" the stamp..... They have more collector value unsigned.
I might be wrong( Alex would know for sure) but since it is a federally issued stamp..You could use it to send postage....

I just always thought it was dumb to ruin a collectable stamp by making someone sign it......JMO

I had always ASSumed that it was because the stamp is not issued to any one individual. If not signed, several folks could share one stamp as long as they were not hunting at the same time.

Sign it real small in an inconspicuous place. I signed mine this year in the dark area in the lower left hand corner. Game Wardens have fun finding it!! I have done this for 29 years and no problems. I have every Duck Stamp that I have purchased plus some old snook and lobster stamps.

One reason for the signing of the stamp is to stop sharing. The other is to deface it. It is not worth as much signed. The thought is to get you to buy two. One for hunting and the other for collecting.

Well, It looks like I will be sending another letter to Ken Haddad. Today it was Lt. Steve Wayne who was heading up the detail out at Stickmarsh. While Steve was at TM Goodwin a couple of other officers were at the stickmarsh ramp checking other hunters....This is GREAT!!! It looks as we are finally geting a strong presence in this area....SWAMP DONKEYS BEWARE!

Hey Joe if you see Steve again tell him I said hello. He used to be up here a few years ago and is one fine officer. He kinda looks like Nicolas Cage don't ya think???:icon_geek

Keith - the only reason she went easy on you was because of who you were with.... :fart:
She has checked me more than 5 times previously this year - nothing like having a good positive relationship with the GW.
