My guides & I have been going pretty hard since the season re-opened.

We've had guests in from Wisconsin, Maine, New Jersey & Ohio.

After getting off the water on Saturday, we decided to grab lunch @ "The Landings" & head back out for a fun hunt.

Since we wanted to keep the birds moving, we decided to take separate boats & be responsible for inviting our own guests if we wanted.

After making numerous calls & getting the "I gotta work, I'm to tired or my wife has plans", I ended up settling on Phil T & his smart arse son Cory.:icon_thum

We made our way back out onto the marsh as both Phil & Cory couldn't believe the amount of ducks they were seeing.

We decided to hunt out of the boat & set up in a cattail head just big enough to hide the three of us.

It didn't take long before Cory scored his first ever wood duck & blackbelly.:smileinbo

Cory also managed to find several deep holes & a lateral ditch while retrieving a bird.:wav:

I also managed to fall out of a running airboat while trying to p/u a downed woodie. But I held on the the bird & the boat as my waders filled with water.

**** it was cold!!!

We managed to locate all but (4) four birds.

(2) Two hit the water & dove
(1) One flew over the levee
(1) One was enjoyed as an evening snack by a hungry (6) six foot gator

In the end, we end up with (12) twelve birds consisting of BBWD, teal & (2) two of the most fully matured woodies I've ever shot.

We watch a single woodie fly into the hole & actually land on a stump.

Absolutely breath taking!!!

Once it got up & attempted to fly off, one well placed shot & back on the water it landed & stayed!!!

Also, could someone please offer up some extra shells to Phil T next time you see him. He ended up bringing "BLANKS" to the blind last night. lol

The birds flew constantly for (2) two hours & continued to land in our hour till well after shooting time.
