View Full Version : Mottled x Mallard Hybrid??

Taken at Lox this morning.

Help me ID this duck... at first glance the easy guess is mottled, however, upon closer inspection you will note that the speculum is almost totally green - not blue, not purple or iridescent - just green with no white bars. Also, the leading edge of the wing had some dark brown feathers as well.

if it flys it dies looks like it is legal and will taste great

Look closely at his head, if any other shades but brown maybe you did your part to protect the unique genetics of the Fla mottled. or maybe you just have a nice looking duck. Looks clean to me. Easier to tell when he dries out in the sun a bit.

Looks like a Mottled to me. Look at the corner of the bill where it meets the feathers - the black triangle is another good indicator.
