I have been doing a little research lately because the way things are looking I will be relocating from South Florida up to Ocala to begin working with Marion County Fire Rescue towards the end of October witch means I have to find new duck hunting spots

I saw PCS WMA and was wondering if anyone had any info they can give me about it as far as checking in and out and how that works....It said that each day its open to hunting a special daily use permit will be issued....It does not really specify how many people are allowed in the area at one time....Any info will be helpful and once I get up there if anyone on this forum is located in or around the Ocala area or within a 1 to 2 hour drive that will be willing to take me and some me around let me know.....I am a pretty laid back guy young and safe hunter and will be more than happy to share a blind with anyone that loves duck hunting as much as I do

I believe PCS allows 100 people on a first come first served basis. So it means getting there early to wait in line for a permit.

No wading, you must hunt out of a boat on one of the little islands in the ponds.

No gas motors, only electric.

Some people use a dog, but I would not due to the clay in the ponds and lots of gators.

As for scouting it is allowed the two days before each phase.

Pond 4 is usually the most popular, pond 6 is usually dry.

The clay in the ponds is like cake batter and will get on a lot of your gear. Try to use older gear or bring lots of water to clean it off when you get to your truck. Waiting until you get home will allow it to set and it is just about impossible to get off. I would not use handcarved decoys here.

I will be moving up there eventually some time during duck season....They pushed my testing back further till towards the end of October so by the time I officially move it be toward the beginning to middle of duck season and since I have 6 weeks of orientation once I start it leaves me only the weekends and I am trying to find some places and make new friends before I even get there....thanks for all the info
