C-44 (St. Lucie Canal) Reservoir/Stormwater Treatment Area Preliminary Design

The South Florida Water Management District Water Resource Advisory Commission (WRAC) will hold a Public Meeting on the C-44 Reservior/Stormwater Treatment Area project on Monday, August 7, 2006.

The C-44 (St. Lucie Canal) Reservoir/Stormwater Treatement Area Project, a component of the Acceler8 Program, is located between Stuart and Indiantown adjacent to the South Fork and will consist of an approximately 3,400 acre, 15-foot-deep above-ground reservoir and a 6,300-acre stormwater treatment area. The project will capture and treat the water from the South Fork and will help to improve water quality there.

The purpose of this meeting will be to present the preliminary design and to provide opportunity for public comment on the reservoir and stormwater treatment area being built on the north side of the South Fork of the St. Lucie River (also known as the St. Lucie Canal or C-44).
