You guys need to change that oil ??
You should replace that filter every 100 hours or once a year. And i know you don't want to go to the mower place and buy a b&s filter for 10.00 buck plus or minus... So here you go ....free info from me..
16hp -35hp...kohler or b&s....
Napa gold-------1348 or 133
fram ------ph-3614
purolateor------fco-241 or l105241
ac delco-------pf-53
if you need any more info...lamarrcox @ aol.com
be safe....and don't forget using a gas additive like seafoam......

Thanks, Lamarr! I changed my oil just before the opener. Found the Fram equivalent for my 27 Kohler and saved money. I've been using Stabil but I will try the Seafoam. I would love to hear any reports on the Super Long Tail, as well your evaluation of the Backwater motor and props- looks like a good product. As long as my arm holds up, I will stay the course with my longtail.:coffee2:

Bosch! dang paying the big bucks. I was gonna put one on my new jeep motor till I saw the price. I bet they are a quality filter though.

For the money, the WIX filters are probably the best.

Thanks for the info Lamarr.
I just did the oil change on the Backwater 27 I bought from you at just over 5 hours. Already have the oil and filter for the next one.
As for the Backwater LT. I am very happy with mine. Runs strong and will push my 15 ft Grizzly places I never thought it would go. I don't have any other experience with Mud motors but am very happy with this one. It seems well built and should be easy to keep up with the maintenance on.

Kevinwings2, thanks for the report. I'm still running my 2004 27 MB longtail. The cavition plate design and the motor mount are interesting on the Backwater. What kinds of speeds are you getting with your rig? It sures seems easier to drive with the prop assembly planing like it does on their video. Are you running a 9x7 or 9x6 prop? I am using a 9x6 because it turns more rpms than the 9x7 and I get a 2mph gain. Good hunting!

I am seeing around 14-17mph depending on load, never been in it without 2 people in the boat. That is with a Grizzley 1548, and original factory bottom paint. I am turning a 9x7 prop and getting about 3450 rpm out of it max. I want to get a 9x6 as my spare and see if that helps me out a bit when it comes to running loaded. I am not going to say it is effortless to drive it, but compared to the horror stories I have heard of other LT's, I feel it has to be better. I also only have about 8 hrs on it so the engine may break in and loosen up a bit more yet.
Let me know where you are and if your local maybe we can go for a ride or hunt together sometime. I am in Port St Lucie and interested in hunting from Loxahatchee up to the IRL. I am new at duck hunting in Fla so still learning places to go.
