Here is a great opportunity for Northeast FL members and friends to participate in a project. The FWC is looking for volunteers to meet at the WMA at 8 am at the FWC field office located:

Take Guana River Rd. off A1A, go right at first service road and stay to the left. FWC office is the well marked white building.

Snacks and beverages to be provided.

Work will include repairs of wood structures and signs...bring cordless drills, crow bars, hammers, chisels etc.

Some weed cutting on trails as well as general clean up.

You should RSVP by June 8 to help them determine how much food and drink will be needed. Geoff Brown at 850-921-1047 or Justin Ellenberger or Matt Hartman at 904-825-6877.

Thanks to all who attend....nice if you wear your UW-F hat to show our support....and to meet local members you do not recognize.

Please take a few digital photos and email them to me or to David Lithgow (dlithgow@bellsouth.net), list any members you see in the email and we will put it in the July Newsletter.

Newton I'm clearing my schedule to attend. Talked with Geoffrey Brown earlier in the week to let him know UW supports these efforts. If anyone else is planning on attending from the Melbourne area or south speak up and maybe we can carpool.

I got there around 9am and worked on putting picnic tables together that we placed inside the WMA at viewing areas.

Others were inside the WMA, cutting back weeds and also worked on the observation tower replacing looses nails.

I also got an hour to bend the ear of one of the biologists and a guided tour of the WMA.

I will post pics later after downloading them.
