View Full Version : What new engine for my MudBuddy frame?
I've got an older Mudbuddy Long Tail that the 27Kohler is just giving me too much trouble. Ready to throw it in the lake!
Anyone put a new motor on your MudBuddy frame?
I've got a smaller Honda 6.5 mudmotor and LOVE it....
Just not sure what Honda motor replaces a 27Kohler.
I figure even if I sell it I have to re-power...
Sggestions?

Barry, talk to Sid (Fastduck). He is the authority on all things mudmotors and boats.

What kind of troubles? I had a 27 Kohler on my first PD - I loved that motor (except they are a little cold blooded).

I think the 40 Kohler bolts will mount to that frame do that and it will be one bad ARS longtail!!
I dont know alot but I know the frame if it has a Kohler on it you cant put a Briggs on it. the bolt pattern is to different.
(should have bought a Go Devil)

I would stay away from the Honda. I've had two 25 Kohlers and now a 27 and they have been very reliable, but as D Duck noted, "cold-blooded". I would opt for a Briggs 23 rather than a Honda.

Generac motors will bolt right up to that motor and has the same bolt pattern and there's mods for also.
