What the heck is going on? I draw a permit to hunt Lake Delancey in Ocala National Forest and the place is crawling with ATV's. I don't mean hunters but joyriders:mad: hootin' and hollerin' and riding where ever they feel like. Opening weekend was a joke, it sounded like a motocross meet:eek:  We did manage a 4pt buck Sunday morning but Saturday is probably the worst time I've had hunting here in 22 years:( I called the National Forest Service and a guy named Brent heads up the recreational opportunities division. He was kind enough to ignore my messages:mad: and has yet to contact me in over a week. Hmmm... lets see, I buy a hunting license, management area stamp, muzzleloader stamp, archery stamp, duck stamp, ect and then have to apply for a hunt permit. Mr ATV joyrider pays not a dime, has 365 day a year access and rides anywhere he pleases. Wow, that seems fair:mad:

Not all WMA's allow ATV use...you have to read the brochure before you apply for a permit.

Duckwhacker no doubt very dissapointing when different user groups clash. I feel your pain and plain and simple it sucks.. I'm just curious as the new nature based division of the FWC if this will become the wave of the future for the upland principles of hunting. I sure hope not but somewhat apprehensive to the new division given so much leverage. I believe if there is a quota hunt taking place the only persons allowed on the property should be the permit holders and no one else. Probably need to deal with the FWC as well as NF folks.

I knew about the ATV's last year, but they seemed to follow the rules then. New breed of morons this year I guess . I don't think they should allow them during quota hunts without a permit. How about an area be set aside for them. All I know is I'm gonna be calling that Brent dude tomorrow and having a heart to heart.
