I am looking for the date of this meeting. I read about it somewhere.

It mentioned something about making contact with contractors for those seeking employment. I have a family friend looking for an equipment operator job.

I may have read about it in the legal notices of the daliy paper.

Thanks
David

There are meetings tonite (in Boca Raton) and tomorrow nite (in Weston) on impoundments to be built just east of the LOX Fed. Refuge and just east of WCA 3. Info is on the forums. These are public meetings to review the PIRs on the projects.

There is also a meeting Thursday at the SFWMD offices on Gun Club Rd. with the USACOE on the Regional Project Delivery Team. Starts at 10 am. Also posted on the forums or calendar.

You can usually find employment procedures on the SFWMD web site...www.sfwmd.gov

I remember the notice you are refering to David. I think that meeting was several weeks ago. That was actually a meeting trying to get large General Contractors and earth work contractors to bid on these upcoming projects. Your friend may want to show up at some of these test cell construction sites and see if the contractors are hiring. They are running a bunch of equipment on the C44 Site in western Martin County.

I found the notice that I was looking for. It was in one of the local papers.

Thanks for the help though.

I made the meeting on the Impoundment Site 1 to be built just east of Lox. Fed Ref. Jerry Krenz was on the ball and assured me there would be a boat ramp in the plans....first for District use, but easily fixed for the public. I got on record that we expected a Small Game Hunting Area designation for the Site 1 which is the first of 2 to be built and it is at least a mile away from development.....Site two goes right up against the last row of houses and will need a buffer zone. Site 1 is about 1 3/4 miles long and 3/4 miles across and will have an average depth of 8 feet when full.

At least one person spoke against hunting.

The situation tonite in Weston will be even more difficult as there are a lot of politics in that one.....Anyone that goes be sure to touch base with Jerry Krenz....he will give you the info on the players and their positions.

These are 2009 completion date projects....just important to get access, a boat ramp where needed and hunting listed as a possible recreation at this point.....then the battles can be fought over the next few years...But if we don't get the items on the agenda tonite it will be hard to add them later.
