The water management district west of the SFWMD has a Recreation site on it's web page....www.sfwmd.state.fl.us

There also is a Meeting page listing all meetings of the different basin groups and the Gov. Board.

There is hunting on several of the District's properties.

There seems to be opportunity for hunters of all types to increase contacts with this WMD. I do not believe there is a Recreation Workshop or group similar to the ones at the SFWMD and the SJRWMD.

The many problems with places to hunt in SW Fl. need attention via the local FWC and the WMD staffs. I suggest hunters in the area visit the SWFWMD website.

Newton just what does that district encompass? I know we have had some recent new members on the WestCoast, now is their opportnuity to forge ahead. With the history of problems associated with the freshwater discharges going all the way out to the Gulf Coast I would be very interested in projects in that area if I lived there. The concept of Acceler8 and the Everglades Restoration has really taking on new meaning because this is being touted as the gold standard in best management practices for cleaning our water. With all the agriculture in Florida we must all be aware of what our Districts are doing.

I have looked at the website for SWFWMD and they do have ample hunting places listed. The question is what is good waterfowl hunting and what is not? Also are the properties that are not open to hunting (bordered by private land) accessible by the public. We need some member input from people that know the area where the land is located. I guess the only way to figure all this out is by extensive scouting. I will be glad to spearhead the movement for this district but I will need help from fellow members. If anybody has any information please post up or contact me. I will do further research into the SWFWMD and report what I find out.
