Doc,

Yesterday my 2 year old lab made a sharpe turn while training and yelped and started favoring his right back leg. Then he wouldnt walk on it. I checked his paw and his leg and hip to see if he had any sore points to touch but nothing. Then he was fine an hour later and today just getting excited when I got home from work the same thing happened but he was walking on it a few minutes later. Any ideas? Should I go get an x-ray?

Thanks,

E

Maybe an Xray, but definitely a trip to the vet if this continues. There are several things that can show this way and for sure worth a check.

Let me know what happens.

Hey EZ, what did you end up doing/finding out?

Just curious because I'm in a similiar situation, maybe not as bad? mine will still walk on it but sometimes will really favor it. Its not bad if shes constantly on the move but if she is laid up in the truck an hour or 3 then tries to get out she will favor it, or even just walk on 3 legs for a few minutes.

Thanks for the response just wonderin what u did.

Partial ACL tears are considered a surgical problem for all working dogs, you should have your dog looked at Clark. It may be much less serious, but time is trauma with ACL injuries (sloppy knees lead to more arthritis)

He hasnt shown any signs in the last few days. But Ive given him the week off to settle down and heal if it is something small. I plan on starting back training this weekend so if he does it we are going to the vet. Will let you know. Thank You!
