Not a lot on ducks....just the routine vote to establish Early Season as per the Federal guidelines....

Major hunting item....Extension of alligator hunting hours...was passed. New hours are 5 pm to 10 am.

Major item effecting hunters...the Imperiled Species vote for Staff to continue moving forward on writing Management Plans for over 60 species and agreeing with the initial recommendation to delist the Black Bear from the Threatened List.

The delisting of the Black Bear will go a long way to prevent the common encounters with hunters (or for that matter, landowners, hikers are anyone) turning into a ticket for "annoying" the bear under the new Threatened Species Rule for TAKE. The black bear has successfully recovered over the years until the species does not meet even one of the scientifically established standards for listing as Threatened. This was done under the All Unlisted Species Rule for Take and there is no reason to believe the progress will not continue as before. That rule has been applied to the bear for many years without problems for the hunter or anyone encountering a bear.

Item for the Stair Step portion of Big Cypress Preserve...the restriction on deer hunting will continue....very few deer counted in the area.

Commissioner Barco was elected the new Chair, Commissioner Wright the vice-Chair.

Thanks to UW-F Members Wayne Davis, Chuck Echenique, Todd Hallman and Byron Maharrey for attending.

Thanks guys for attending. This is a meeting I've wanted to get to for some time now but haven't been able to pull off.

We appreciate what you guys do for sportsmen around this state.
