SFWMD statement on security

I almost forgot the best tid bit to come out of the recreation meeting IMHO. Jerry put up a slide in the power point presentation that had SECURITY as the heading. He said that district security folks had come to him and noted that not only were there no security issues on the STA's, THEY FEEL THAT SECURITY IS IMPROVED BY HAVING THE PUBLIC ON THE SITES!

I made sure to draw attention back to that slide in the public comment period. Many of us have been saying for years that when you put up a fence you do not stop the poachers. They will find a way to get in there. It's when you allow the law abiding public to have access that the poachers have to move on.

I think that you would have to be flat out crazy to try to do something detrimental to the STA's after you drove through the "gauntlet" of armed hunters waiting in line to get in. Give me a break it's like having 50 armed guards monitoring the entrance to your property. Very nice of jerry to include that in the presentation!!! :)

something that i never thought of but alex is right if we could linch them we probably would have. someone killing more than their limit or setting up to close
