Guys,

Hit-n-Miss is a friend of mine that I hunted with when I was learning to duck hunt, we fished together alot too.

His father taught us both to hunt. Hit was a teen when this started and I was in college.

Just goes to show that you need to take and teach someone to hunt and fish.

I have to tell this story at Hit-n-Miss's expense.

We were together at MINWR hunting early teal at the north end of area 4. We were trying to hunt out of a boat as it was just too hot to wear waders. Hit takes a swivel chair off it's base and turns it sideways to sit on. When a group of teal came into our spread, we both shot and I heard this really loud splash to the side of me and sure enough, Hit had gone swimmin'.

He kept his gun out of the water though!!!:D

Steve funny story! Unfortunately that reminds me of an early teal hunt of mine. We were also at MINWR but area 3. Well got the deeks put out and set up a palm frond blind out in the middle by a pot hole in the grass. I was actually enjoying being set up way early so I leaned back against a froze out mangrove and SNAP and SPLASH I went. The water was only knee deep but I took the nestea plunge completely submerged except my hand and gun. I felt fortunate to keep my gun in a safe direction as well as keeping it dry. Took a limit and was later checked by the federally and he asked why are you so wet. I told him I was hunting diving ducks.:D

Man I really miss those days. I got spoiled on those hunts at Merrit, 10 duck limits and being out sometimes by 8:30. Now I'm in georgia and the hunting is a lot harder. Steve I'm serious about getting together and hunting sometime. :D By the way Steve, you forgot to mention that I got my duck.

Ahhh, A real hunter! Who cares about wet...I got him! That's what counts... right!:) If you've never gotten totally wet while duck hunting...You haven't been doing it at the same level as I do!

One of my 247 hunting buddies is going to be back for Thanksgiving to hunt.

Last time I hunted with him he put down a bird and said "I'll get him". I heard a big splash and looked over to see just his hat floating. A split second and he popped up, looked at me and said "man that waters cold" and got after the bird.
