I received a very disturbing phone call today from Lt Steve Wayne of the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission in regards to the large influx of "new" hunters on the IRL this season.

In his own words, "It's out of control."

FWC is receiving a minimum of (5) five complaints from home owners from Cocoa to Sebastian Inlet.

People are ****ED!!!

Shooting to close to houses, hulls floating up on the shorelines, letting cripples swim away (rather than getting off your lazy arses & chasing them down), & breaking the manatee zones.

I watched (1) one boat load of (4) four hunters shooting a shoreline between (2) two houses:mad:

What the F#(< are you thinking???

I would hunt one of the tips of the spoil islands before I would set up on the shoreline between (2) two homes.

Hunting the salt for over (20) twenty years, I have to say I never seen so many new faces as I have this season.

Every day there is @ least (3) three boats @ each ramp full of hunters.

Guys, we need to give this resource of break or we're going to lose it!!!

Some are taking advantage of because your to lazy to go scout the marsh

I have never hunted the salt more than twice a week out of respect for the homeowners & the resource.

NEVER!!!

Some of you guys are out there every morning!!!:(

Tomorrow, I will be meeting with Brevard County Commissioner Helen Voltz in an attempt to cut off these homeowners complaints.

I fear I am already to late:(

So if your newbie to the salt or one of the out right outlaws, please feel free to place your names, addresses & phone numbers to this post

I will need this info to contact you for the County Commission meeting when all the ****ed off homeowners get up to complain.

What I fear though is the same (3) three or (4) four hunt hunters will show & the rest of you will be @ home already having abused a resource that has been in place since the turn of the century.

Please feel free to contact Lt Steve Wanye @ the T'ville office if you have any questions.

BTW, I've been advised to tell you all that FWC will write any & all for the above violations along with safety inspections of all vessels.

You guys brought this upon yourselves & now you must live with it.

BTW, I've been advised to tell you all that FWC will write any & all for the above violations along with safety inspections of all vessels. If we had more enforcement of the rules (we are talking about breaking here, not bending) then this would not be such an issue. It is the job of the FWC to enforce and educate those who can't seem to read and follow the law. I will guaranty that a few tickets for some serious $$$ will alter the habits of the select few that choose to make their own rules....

Jeff, I think we both know you're probably preaching to the choir here, most of the yahoos out there don't hang out at a site like the UW discussion group. Unless of course you know who these individuals are, and in that case, why not just call 'em out?

If I knew who it was, we would already be having a "coming to Jesus" meeting @ the ramp then I would introduce them to Lt Wayne.

We need to get the word out gentlemen.

& yes, there has been several trucks with UWF stickers on them, as well as DU & Delta stickers.

Since they obviously read this forum & are "new faces" to the salt, they can also help spread the "word"

Per FWC, enforcement on the duck hunters is going into "high gear" as of today!!!

One of the locals up there had better keep a close eye on County and Municipal commission meeting agendas. There is a State law that will allow them to declare and "emergency" and pass an ordinance without the normal public notice requirements. (1st reading, 2nd reading etc) That's how Martin county passed some bans on discharge of firearms in parts of the county.

The fundamental problem here is that as the shoreline is developed hunting will be called a "nusiance" by the wealthy home owners as they do not like to have their early mornings disturbed by the sound of gun shots. Where do you draw the line....do we just give in to the inevitable loss of all hunting along the river? and not fight for the rights to the navigible waterway? There is no hunting allowed south of Ft. Pierce already in the river and that will spread all the way to Melbourne soon at the rate things are going. And, I mean no hunting, even on the islands! The guys over in Tampa Bay can give you the horror story of what is coming.

The law regarding shooting near a building needs to be enforced.....are these hunters breaking that law? or or they just in ear shot (pardon the pun) of the complainers? David is right, the battle will be at the county commission meetings and if you hunt the river you had better be ready to make the meetings in force or you will be in the same situation all the hunters in the south are....no salt water hunting period.

And, I add...I have no problem with "new" hunters or even more hunters as long as they are respecting the laws and waterfowling ethics.....this is no private fraternity.....Hunters are already a small minority and losing clout....we will either have to tolerate more crowding and more warm bodies in the trenches or fight a rear action with dwindiling forces bound for defeat.

Florida better wake up before the average man loses access to the"soverign" waters of the state. Soon every bit of water in the state will be ringed with houses as developers feed the greed and county commissioners fill the coffers with property taxes dollars to waste and say to h*ll with access. Once it's gone, it's gone forever.....

Per FWC, enforcement on the duck hunters is going into "high gear" as of today.

It should have started on November 19th, 2005.

Why now, why not back during the season when these things were occurring?

We will be there next week. One of my hunting buds lives there and has invited several of us over to Seb for a hunt. He has been there for twenty years and never had any problems.

Maybe we will run into some of the yahoos and have a nice talk.

Thanks for the notice.
