Did my best to avoid the last weekend of hunting on Lake O - weekends are kind of a zoo out there. At the last moment I couldn't resist so Sunday afternoon I ran down to Slim's. Took a ride out to one of my favorite spots. My wife came along on this one which was a first. She's as much involved in our dogs as I am, although not a big fan of the hunting. I wanted her to see Diesel at work, so after missing a few bunches and having quite a few fly over from behind me, finally about 5:30 three Teal cupped up, put their landing gear down and I dropped one about two feet off the water. I send Diesel very sparingly on these ducks - I know the water was cold, and I really hate to take a chance with him. But this being the last duck of the season, and only about a half hour left of the 2011 season, I sent him on that duck and got a few good pictures at the same time. Diesel did a great job, he's very enthusiastic about retrieving and I think my wife was impressed!
