CENTRAL SJRWMD RAC Meeting Nov. 5

The SJRWMD will hold their central RAC meeting, Nov. 5, 2003.

Location; Camp La-No-Che in Lake County (352-669-8558)

9:30 til noon. They will tour Lake Norris Conservation Area after the meeting.

Not much new. The district still is planning to allow waterfowl hunting on Oklawaha Prairie next season. UW had ask about the property last Spring.

Also, UW has requested that the district allow UW to be voting member of council. Their position is that they will change their policy from voting council to public workshop. this is still in the works.

UW had asked the FWC to allow waterfowl hunting throughout the season on Buck Lake WMA (a St Johns WMD property) and the FWC stated in a letter that the SJWMD said that the lake was accessable by the St Johns proper. When brought up at the RAC meeting, the district said that the lake was not accessable by river and that this info was inaccurate. They had ask to see the letter. I will forward the letter to the district. Buck Lake WMA allows waterfowl hunting Nov. 29-Dec 14 which is only 11 days out of the whole waterfowl season.

After the meeting, I had asked one of the district heads about the possible impact of the "council 100" (a group of prominent business men/women inFla. that would oversee water resources throughout the state. The response was they will have to wait and see.
