UW-F Meeting with State Rep. Franklin Sands (Weston)

I will be meeting with Rep. Sands Tuesday AM in Weston. If you have issues you wish me to discuss please post as a reply on this string.

I will be discussing the SFWMD's attention to recreation on "their" properties, especially the WCAs and STAs. Our desire for the Reservoirs to be "open" like the WCAs. The threat to fill the L 67 canal and resulting loss of access. The need to establish Small Game Hunting Areas west of the populated areas, even if restricted to dove only.

I had a very pleasant visit with State Rep. Franklin Sands (D) Weston and staff. He is an advocate of conservation and the restoration of the Everglades. He was very interested in the issues of the L 67 canal and the Tamiami Trail as well as the rights of the public to recreate on WMD lands. There will be further cooperation.
